This month the We Got This Crew bring you a mix with Bay Area producer and DJ VNDMG, and We Got This’ newest member Chrome Wolves.
..::A Few Questions With VNDMG::..
??What came first, DJing, or Producing??
I started producing downtempo and IDM under the name a.vanvranken, went at that for several years and started to get booked with no means of playing “live”. Luckily, Serato had just came out so I bought a set of tables and an SL1 and flailed my way through DJing until I really liked it. I stopped producing completely and just focused on DJing, until about 3 years ago when I started VNDMG and now I have nice balance of doing both.
??When and what was your first song you released as VNDMG??
Almost 3 years ago, it was a remix of Rack City by Tyga… Here’s a link haha
I??f you could/had to live somewhere other than san francisco where would it be??
That’s a good question, I’m so happy to live here I never really think about it. Portland and Seattle were definitely in the final round before I decided on SF, though.
??What is your go to food spot in the bay??
I’m not much of a foodie, I enjoy good food but I mostly eat garbage and drugs. HAHA just kidding, I really just eat at taqueria’s 4 or 5 meals a day and any breakfast spot that serves hashbrowns and shitty coffee.
??who was the first producer you remember giving you the chills??
Wow if I’m gonna dig deep and say the very first producer I listened to that hit me hard… Nine Inch Nails? Front 242? Aphex Twin?
??Who is the next up and coming Producer/DJ people should watch out for??
If you haven’t heard of him, check out Tsuruda, coming from Salt Lake City, UT. He just moved to LA to expand his opportunities and I know he is absolutely going to kill it. The first track on my mix is his, actually.
??What do you have planned in the upcoming year??
Wrapping up a new EP and getting booking in cities that I haven’t played before. I’ve got some shows in the midwest and east coast coming up and I am really excited to play in those parts of the country.
Also, more music, a non-edm side-project, expanding more on The VNDMG Report, more mini-mixes, a compilation, a Million Minds remix album, and some collaborations with other producers and rappers..

With a healthy mixture of originals, collaborations, and remixes, a VNDMG set is always unique.
